The Union of National Radio and Television Organizations of Africa (URTNA) is an international organization of broadcasting services (Radio and TV). URTNA was created in 1962 to promote the development of broadcasting in Africa.

URTNA MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO

- any public or private broadcasting organization or group of broadcasting organizations of any African country ;

- any public or private broadcasting organization or group of broadcasting organizations situated outside the African continent and which provide a broadcasting service of a national character ;

- any public or private institution, be it African or foreign, national or international, whose activities include audio-visual communication.

As at 31 January 1999, URTNA’s membership was composed of the broadcasting organizations of 48 countries.

Public broadcasting services of the following member countries : Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoro, Congo-Brazzaville, Congo (Democratic Republic), C๔te d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

PARTICPATING MEMBERS

African private broadcasting organizations : Africa Nฐ 1 Radio Service (Gabon), Africa Independent Television (Nigeria), Degue Broadcasting Network Television (Nigeria), Dar-es-Salaam Television (Tanzania), Independent Television (Tanzania), MINAJ Holdings Limited (Nigeria).

ASSOCIATE MEMBERS

Foreign public and private broadcasting organizations : Germany, France, Holland, Palestine, Portugal, Switzerland, Radio Vatican, BBC-Afrique Radio (Great Britain) and WorldSpace.
