The renaissance of a continental Union
The Union of National Radio and Television organisations of Africa (URTNA) , which held its 43rd and last General Assembly session from 30 October to 2 November 2006 in Abuja, Nigeria, was transformed into a new Union known as The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB). It was a historical moment which recalled, with emotion, the role played by this first professional organisation of Africa in defending the personality and promoting the emancipation of men and women of this continent.
Thus, after 44 years of existence, a new page was turned, with the aim of making AUB an all-inclusive broadcasting Union which contributes to the enrichment of the quality of life and projects the true image of Africa . To achieve this objective, AUB needs the support of all those who wish to see broadcasting develop in Africa as major asset in an ever-evolving democratic environment.
